California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) officials are investigating the death of an Ironwood State Prison incarcerated person as a homicide.

According to a CDCR press release, Luis Padilla, 42, was attacked by three other incarcerated people. Padilla sustained multiple stab wounds and died from those wounds. Padilla had been serving a sentence of life with no possibility of parole. The three suspects, all three serving sentences for murders, have been moved to restricted housing pending the investigation.
