The California Highway Patrol is investigating an apparent hit and run accident.

The collision was reported shortly after 6:00 a.m. Saturday on Highway 86. According to initial information, the accident apparently occurred late Friday night or very early Saturday morning. A small car ran off the road and appears to have overturned before coming to rest along the roadside fence. There was no one around the scene when officers arrived. The accident remains under investigation.
