Over 500 pounds of methamphetamine was found in a trailer at the border.

According to a U. S. Customs and Border Prevention news release, on May 20, 2024, a tractor trailer rig approached the Calexico Commercial Facility. The driver and big rig were sent to secondary inspection where CBP officers used non-intrusive technology to screen the empty trailer. The scan revealed anomalies and a canine team also alerted to the trailer. Further examination led to the discovery of 523 pounds of methamphetamine concealed in the frame of the trailer. The driver, a 25-year-old man who was a valid border crossing card holder, was turned over to Homeland Security Investigations.
