At last report, fire fighters had stopped the forward motion of the fire. It had been reported late Thursday morning in the area of Picacho Road near Bruce Church, on the Imperial County side of the border with Arizona. The Bureau of Land Management fire crews were in charge of the fire. They said it had burned 43 acres when the forward movement had been stopped. At last word, the fire had crossed into Arizona and Yuma County Fire was going to take the lead. Damage has apparently been to brush only, with no structures threatened. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
