The Salton Sea Authority announces an additional $3.8 million in funding for a Salton Sea Feasibility study.

The money is included in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) fiscal year 2024 budge. The USACE study sponsors are currently evaluating the feasibility of alternatives identified by the State of California's Salton Sea Management Programs Long-Range Plan for protecting public health and restoring the seas ecosystem. Salton Sea Authority Board Secretary and Imperial Irrigation District Director Gina Dockstader said, " These funds are critically needed to ensure that the USACE study and the action it ultimately recommends fully addresses the need of our region, including those of the many disadvantaged Salton Sea communities that bear a disproportionate share of the public health burdens."
