(Mother's Day weekend is coming up)...In some areas, such as Imperial County, Mother's Day is Sunday in the US. It is also Friday in Mexico.
Both days are recognized locally. Whether you choose a prefered Day or you celebrate both days, you would want the celebrations to be special. For that reason, Customs and Border Protection is reminding residents there are restrictions on certain commodities imported from Mexico. Flowers are among the list. Flowers can carry pests and diseases that threaten US Agriculture and the environment. Certain flowers, greenery, potted plants and soil are prohibited to prevent the introduction of plant diseases, invasive insects, and parasitic nematodes. Some examples include Chrysanthemums, orange Jasmin. Roses, carnations and many other flowers are not a problem. Check the CBP website for more information before you make your purchases.
