Methamphetamine and fentanyl was found hidden in air compressors at the Calexico downtown port of entry.
On Wednesday of last week a pick-up truck entered the port at about 5:00 p.m. The truck and driver were referred to secondary inspection. A non-intrusive inspection was conducted and anomalies were noticed. A CBP K-9 alerted to the vehicle and further inspection led to the discovery of 209 pounds of methamphetamine concealed in an air compressor in the bed of the truck. The 42-year-old driver was detained. Then on Friday, April 26, shortly after 5:00 p.m., a 31-year-old man driving a truck was referred to secondary inspection. A non-intrusive scan of the truck showed anomalies and a CBP K-9 team alerted to the vehicle. A search led to the discovery of 9 packages hidden in an air compressor on the truck. A total of nearly 135 pounds of fentanyl and methamphetamine was seized. Both drivers were turned over to the custody of Homeland Security Investigations.
