A big rig collided with a pick-up truck sitting on the side of the highway.

The accident occurred shortly after 7:00 a.m. Thursday on eastbound Interstate 8 near Ocotillo. The tractor-trailer rig struck the unoccupied pick-up. The pick-up was pushed about 70 feet off the roadway and down an embankment. A section of the freeway fence was damaged. There was debris scattered along the roadway. One lane had to be shut down to retrieve the vehicles. There were no injuries.
