A woman is dead, and a man is in jail following an early Saturday morning murder.

Brawley Police responded to the 600 block of Gilmore Street at about 12:40 a.m. Saturday after receiving a report of a domestic violence incident. According to the reporting party, the suspect killed a woman and then took her to an unknown location. After an initial investigation, Brawley Police detained Rodrigo Flores Gomez, 35, of Brawley. Further investigation led to the victim, unconscious in a vehicle. The victim was taken to Pioneers memorial Hospital where she was pronounced deceased. Gomez was arrested and booked into Imperial County Jail on one count of murder. He is being held on $1 million bail. The murder remains under investigation.
