The Frankie L. Chavez Memorial Scholarship Foundation will celebrate this weekend.

It's the 30th Anniversary of the Foundation created to honor the lives Frankie Chavez and Nate Mata. The two young men died in a traffic accident in December of 1993. The Foundation was created in 1994 as a way to keep the memory of Chavez and Mata alive.

This year's celebration will include a Bar-B-Que, Car Show, Softball and Horseshoe Tournaments as well as music and entertainment.  The softball games start at 8:00 a.m. and the fun continues throughout the day at Hinojosa Park in Brawley. The drive-through Bar-B-Que will be served from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Through the years the Foundation has been able to award scholarships to students from the money raised during the fundraiser.
