(Almost time to count the Homeless)...It is the annual point in time count.

It will be held Friday and Saturday. The Imperial County Department of Social Services, Imperial Valley Continuum of Care Council, and community volunteers will take action to measure homelessness within Imperial County by conducting the 2024 Point In Time Count. The effort is mandated by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development. It is a community wide effort conducted annually throughout the entire country and provides an opportunity for residents to actively contribute and learn about people who are experiencing homelessness and gain understanding of the resources available to address homelessness in Imperial County. While the two day count cannot include every homeless person in the county, it can determine the scope of the issue. The numbers accumulated also determine the amount of assistance available to each county.
