A domestic violence report revealed military grade ordnance.

Imperial County Sheriff's deputies responded to a residence north of Niland on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, after receiving a report of domestic violence. The victim suffered minor injuries and refused medical attention. The suspect, 43-year-old Buck Blevins, fled the scene before deputies arrived. As deputies searched the premises for Blevins they found military ordnance, including bomb parts, grenades, and live ammunition. A further search led to the discovery of gunpowder, explosive materials, detonation cod, blasting caps, and several firearms. Personnel from nearby Camp Billy Machen, bomb squad personnel from ICFD, and Explosive Ordnance Demolition (EOD) personnel from Marine Corps Air Station Yuma responded to the scene to assist in the removal of the materials. Law enforcement personnel are still searching for Blevins.
