(El Centro is getting ready for Mardi Gras)....The City of El Centro, Imperial Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce and Los Vigilantes are inviting everyone to join the 2024 Mardi Gras Festivities.

El Centro Mayor Sylvia Marroquin says it is the perfect event to kick-off the New Year.. It includes a Light Parade, dazzling  decorations, amazing costumes, street fair and a King and Queen. The City is still accepting nominations for the King and Queen. The King and Queen will host the City of El Centro's Mardi Gras King and Queen Coronation reception on January 18th from 5 pm to 7 pm at the City Hall. The Light Parade and Street Festival will be held February 24 from 5 pm to 9 pm. The festival starts at 5. The Light Parade begins at 6 pm. The Parade Route begins at 8th Street and Wensley Avenue and ends at 11th and Main Streets. To participate in the parade, contact the Imperial Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce. To become a vendor at the Street Fair, contact the El Centro Community Center.. Nominations for King and Queen are due by 5 pm January 10th.
