Traffic accident leads to arrest.

On Wednesday afternoon, at about 4:30 p.m.,. Yuma County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a traffic accident on the Fortuna Road overpass. A Dodge Challenger and a Ford Taurus were in the roadway following the collision. As a YCSO deputy approached the scene, he was informed by witnesses that one of the subjects involved in the accident had a firearm and had pointed the gun at the other driver demanding money. He also pointed the gun at a passerby who asked him to move his car from the roadway. Deputies arrested 30-year-old Jose Heredia of Yuma. Heredia was booked into Yuma County Detention Center and charged with Robbery, 2 counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Disorderly Conduct with a Weapon. The case remains under investigation.
