An accident Thursday afternoon tied up traffic on Highway 111 for several hours.

The accident was reported at about 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Even Hewes Highway and State Route 111. A tanker truck and two pick-up trucks were involved. Minor injuries resulted from the accident. Hazardous Materials were spilled and Imperial County Fire Department and Haz Mat specialists worked to mitigate the spill. It was 6:30 p.m. before all lanes were open and traffic was moving normally. Cause of the accident remains under investigation.
