(The 1st annual Mystery Box Cook-off)...It was held Friday.

It was a Kiwanis Club Fundraiser to benefit the IV Food Bank. The Cook-off pitted El Centro Mayor Martha Cardenas Singh and Imperial Mayor Katie Burnworth. The Mayors were tasked with preparing a meal using food items from commodities distributed by the Food Bank. Each contestant had an assistant. Burnworth and her assistant prepared Chipotle Mac and Cheese, Turkey Tacos and a dessert of peaches and strawberries with sugar flour tortilla chips. That was judged as the winning meal. In addition to funds raised by the event, The Kiwanis Club also presented the IV Food Bank with a check for $4,000
