(Assemblyman Eduardo Garcia opposes PMH Tax and Expansion LAFCO application)....Garcia is not the only one.

The City of Calexico has said they, too, oppose the Application. In a statment, the Assemblyman said he opposes Pioneers Memorial Healthcare District's LAFCO expansion application and the significantly high tax increases they want to place on the March Ballot. Garcia said the recently signed AB 918 creates a countywide Healthcare District. He said with that action, there is no need to expand PMH as the legislation achieves the purpose of creating a united county health system. Garcia says once AB 918 became law, Pioneers and LAFCO should have withdrawn their expansion application. He said proceeding conflicts with the new state law at a great expense to the community. PMH has not shown any interest in changing their plans.
