(Dia De La Raza)....It was celebrated this month by the Hidalgo Society in Brawley.

The event celebrated the Hispanic culture and community. Also during the event, outstanding individuals were honored. Two were recognized as Hispanics of the Year. Receiving the award was Audrey Camacho, an insurance agent and broker. Also awarded as Hispanic of the Year was Gilbert Rebollar., a Brawley City Council member and Public Relations officer for the County of Imperial. For Rebollar, the award is a kind of family tradition. Both of his parents are past recipients of Hispanic of the Year. Also during the event, the Coomunity Members of the Year were awarded. They went to Chairman of the County Board of Supervisors and Supervisor for District 4 Ryan Kelley and community advocate Kristy Perez. This was the first year the Community Members of the Year awards were presented.
