A tractor-trailer rig hauling cars went out of control and rolled over.

The accident occurred at about 2:15 p.m. Thursday on eastbound Interstate near Mt. Springs Road. The big rig went over the side of an embankment and spilled it's load of cars. Two of the cars were reported approximately 100 feet down a rock embankment. Several local, state and federal agencies responded to the incident as did a hazardous materials cleanup team for a diesel fuel spill where the tractor came to rest in the desert. Traffic on the freeway ws halted while emergency crews were on the scene. The driver was injured but no information was available on the extent of the injuries. The accident remains under investigation.
