According to the numbers, August Unemployment was 19.7 percent. That is up from the revised 18 percent in July, and above the year ago estimate of 17%. This compares with an unadjusted unemployment rate of 5.1% for California and 3.9% for the nation during the same period. According to the latest report, there were 14,200 eligible workers unemployed out of a labor force of 71,900.
