An El Centro man is scammed out of $4,000.

The man told El Centro Police that he had received a phone call from someone claiming that he kidnapped his wife and would release her for a $4,000 ransom. The 58-year-old man sent the $4,000. It was determined that the wife had not been kidnapped and was unharmed. 

Also, on Tuesday, an El Centro man reported that he was called by someone who claimed to be with the FBI. The supposed federal agent said that there was a warrant for his arrest. The man ignored the extortion attempt and notified police.
