There will be plenty of opportunities to celebrate Independance Day in the Imperial Valley.

Saturday, July 1, 2023, is a Free Fishing Day. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife says you can fish without a license that day. All other rules apply.  On Saturday, the County of Imperial will hold the Second Annual Summer Splash Bash at Sunbeam Lake. The free event will feature water activities, face painting, food and drinks and more from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. On Sunday, the Calipatria Foundation with the Calipatria Lions Club will present a community celebration at the Hatfield Airport in Calipat. There will be food, music and fun all capped off with a fire works display. The event runs from 4:00 p.m. until it's over.

On Tuesday, July 4th, the City of El Centro Aquatic Center will present a Far Out Fourth of July Pool Party. Food, games, swimming, the Lazy River and Aqua Track as well as a Groovy DJ from Noon to 4:00 p.m.  Admission is free.

The City of Brawley Parks and Recreation Department will have a free swim and movie event at the Lions Center Pool. Admission is free. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
