The Unemployment report is provided by the Labor Market Division of the Employment Development Department. According to the report, May unemployment was recorded at 16 percent. That is up from the revised 14.2% released in April, and above the year ago estimate of 12.3%. This compares to the unadjusted rate of 4.5% for California and 3.4% for the nation during the same period. The report indicates there were 11,300 elegible workers unemployed in May out of a labor force in Imperial County of 70,800. In Imperial County had the highest unemployment in the state during May.
