Jason Owens is the new U. S. Border Patrol Chief.

The Department of Homeland Security announced Friday that Own, who headed the Del Rio Sector of the Border Patrol, will replace Ray Ortiz as Chief. Ortiz has retired after 22 months in the job. Owens is a 27-year veteran of law enforcement with 20 years as an officer with U.S. Customs and Border Protection. During his career he has been chief patrol agent in charge of the Border Patrol Academy in New Mexico. He has also worked at several border locations, including McAllen, El Paso, North Dakota and Calexico.
