Calexico Unified School District (CUSD) received an anonymous tip about a threat at Enrique Camarena Jt. High School.

According to a CUSD press release, a threat was received on their Anonymous Tip Line on Friday, June 2, 2023. It was reported that a picture of a gun and an Instagram recording stating that harm might come to staff and students at the Jr. High School on June 9, 2023. CUSD administrators immediately contacted the Calexico Police Department. Border city police, working with the FBI, were able to locate the individual who created the threat. Investigators determined that the threat was not credible and that no firearms or weapons were found. The incident remains under investigation.
