Assembly Bill 918 has successfully passed in the California Assembly.

The bill would seek to establish one united Imperial Valley Healthcare District. The bill, pushed by El Centro Regional Medical Center and the City of El Centro, now goes to the State Senate. Both Pioneers Memorial Healthcare District and Heffernan Hospital District have expressed concern with some of the provisions of the bill. Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia said that community input is extremely important to him and that he plans to increase public engagement efforts on the regional healthcare district proposal.
