(IID Directors declare may as Water Safety month).....The resolution was adopted at Tuesday's IID Board meeting.

The  declaration comes before summer arrives and before school lets out. Imperial Irrigation District's iconic mascot Dippy Duck will be spreading the water safety message. The Stay Active, Play Safe, Be Cool Public awareness campaign continues to be presented in schools. The program began May 1st and will continue through June 9, reinforcing the 3 rules: Never Swim In A Canal, Never Play In A Canal, Never Jump In A Canal. The Program began in 1959, with Dippy Duck making his appearance in 1966. The Program reaches 21,000 elementary school students each year.
