The California Highway Patrol is investigating a solo vehicle fatal crash.

At about 4:45 p.m. Sunday, the CHP responded to Clark Road just north of Willoughby Road after receiving a report of a car upside down in a canal. A 2016 Honda Accord was located was discovered upside down in the canal. Preliminary investigation suggests the driver was southbound on Clark Road and failed to observe the road closure signs, hit a concrete barrier, and plunged into the canal. The driver, a 33-year-old man, sustained fatal injuries. The identity of the driver has not been released pending notifications. The Imperial County Coroner's Office is assisting the Highway Patrol in the investigation.
