It's traditionally one of the biggest weekends in the Imperial Valley desert.

Sand dunes enthusiasts began arriving on Thursday and the numbers are expected to increase through the weekend. Glamis, Buttercup, Oldsmobile Hill. the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area and the Superstitions will host thousands of duners.  Imperial County emergency personnel have geared up for the off roaders with the Sheriff's Department, BLM and other emergency service agencies ready to respond to the desert. After a week of high winds and chilly mornings, the weekend weather should perfect for off-roading.

With Monday being Presidents' Day, Government offices are closed, as are schools and banks.
