A man died Tuesday afternoon after jumping from the Pine Valley Creek Bridge on Interstate 8.

The California Highway Patrol received a report of a man on the bridge railing with his legs over the side of the bridge at about 5:40 p.m. The man had parked his car on the right side of eastbound Interstate 8 in the middle of the bridge. Just a few minutes later the man jumped off the 450-foot-high bridge and suffered fatal injuries. The incident remains under investigation.
