A big rig that caught on fire caused traffic to back up.

The fire was reported at about 5:45 p.m. Wednesday on eastbound Interstate 8 west of Ocotillo. The tractor trailer was reported to be loaded with plants. The intense fire and smoke shut down both lanes of the freeway on Mt. Springs grade. Imperial County Fire responded and extinguished the fire. One lane of eastbound 8 remained blocked by the wreckage and debris.
