The Yuma County Sheriff's Office is investigating an early Sunday morning accident.
The accident was reported at about 2:30 a.m. in the area of Somerton Avenue and County 8th Street. According to YCSO, a Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling southbound on Somerton Avenue went out of control and hit a utility pole. The driver was ejected from the Jeep and was airlifted to a Phoenix area hospital with life-threatening injuries. According to YCSO, alcohol appears to be a factor in the collision.
