That is Star Wars-Discover the Desert Day. The day comemorates the filming of Return of the Jedi in the Buttercup Sand Dunes in 1982 and the 40th anniversary of the film's release. The LANDS Foundation, along with the 501st Legion, Galaxy Far Far Away Journeys, Base Mexicali, and Bantha Baja Klan are inviting the public to participate in the celebration being held at the Buttercup Ranger station in the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area on Saturday February 4th beginning at 12 noon. The Ranger Station can be reached off Interstate 8, taking the Gordons Well exit. There will be tours of the film site, as well as more activities. The event concludes with a filmaker Q&A at 4:30 pm and a screening of Star Wars VI- Return of the Jedi at 5:00 pm.. Dress accordingly and bring a lawn chair. Food will be available for purchase.
