(New Sheriff sworn in)....Fred Miramontes took the oath of office Thursday.

Miramontes was elected to the position, succeeding Ray Loera, who decided not to seek re-election. The event was attended by representatives from every city in Imperial County, and other dignitaries. A mariachi band provided the entertainment. Saturday, newly elected District Attorney George Marquez will be sworn in at a ceremony in Holtville.
