Pioneers Memorial Healthcare District and El Centro Regional Medical Center will consolidate inpatient Maternal and Child Care Health Services at Pioneers.
Beginning on January 5, 2023, El Centro Regional will stop admitting new inpatients for these services. Both Imperial Valley hospitals emphasized that the purpose of the consolidation of services at PMHD will provide the women and children of the Imperial Valley with a unified program that provides high-quality care to new mothers and their babies. Pioneers Chief Executive Officer Damon Sorensen said, " We are confident that consolidating services will benefit all mothers and newborns. At our Birth Center, our dedicated team of providers is ready to guide them through the journey of motherhood". ECRMC Board President Tomas Oliva said the two hospitals are excited to work together to maintain and enhance the level of care available in our communities. It's expected that Pioneers will deliver more than 2,500 babies each year.
