The report was released by the Labor Market Information Division of the Employment Development Department. The new numbers indicate a slight increase in the local unemployment rate. In November unemployment was at 16.7 percent, up slightly from the 16.3% reported in October, and above the year ago estimate of 15.1%. This compares to an unadjusted unemployment of 4% for the state and 3.4% for the nation during the same period. The numbers indicate there were 11,800 eligible workers unemployed in November out of a labor force of 70,800. Imperial County still has the highest unemployment rate in the state of California.
