(COVID 19 Update)...The new numbers were released Thursday morning.
The numbers are released by by the County Public Health Department. According to the new numbers, there are currently 598 active cases of COVID 19 in Imperial County. That is 127 cases less than what was reported on Tuesday, when active cases were reported at 725. The new numbers also indicate fatalities attributed to the virus are now at 960, one more than what was reported Tuesday. The COVID 19 State Tier Metrics for Imperial County indicate new cases per day per 100,000 population at 27.50, with a positivity rate of 18.3%. Health officials are strongly urging residents to get the COVID Boost and Influenza vaccine, if they have not already done so. They say there is a strong possibility of surges in COVID cases during the holiday season. They are also predicting high numbers of flu cases this season, while RSV is also a major problem this year.
