The National Weather Service ( NWS ) has released their outlook for this winter.

According to NWS, overall, odds favor below normal precipitation  and warmer than normal temperatures for the Imperial Valley. According to the weather service, La Niña conditions are currently in place across the equatorial Pacific Ocean and are expected to continue in the winter season. This would be the third consecutive La Niña winter. Most La Niña years result in below normal precipitation and mountain snowfall in Arizona. This can lead to increased drought prevalence and a reduced water supply.
