A Brawley woman suffered a gunshot wound to her leg.

According to Brawley Police Commander Jonathan Blackstone, on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at about 5:45 in the morning, police received a call regarding a woman with a gunshot wound to her leg. Officers responded to the 600 block of North Imperial Avenue and found the victim, an adult woman who had been shot in the leg. The woman was taken to the hospital where she was treated and released. Investigating officers determined that the woman had apparently been shot accidently by 30-year-old Richard Guillan. The Brawley man was arrested and booked into Imperial County Jail on charges of Negligent Discharge of a Firearm and being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
