The Imperial County Office of Emergency Services is tracking Hurricane Kay.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for Imperial County from Noon Friday through Midnight Sunday as Kay is baring down on Baja California. The National Weather Service says there is a chance of seeing over 3 inches of rainfall in 24 hours. Impacts from Hurricane Kay have the potential to be felt across Southern California with Imperial County, Southeast Riverside County and Southwestern Arizona impacted. NWS says extended periods of moderate rain throughout the weekend will be capable of producing flooding; bands of heavier rain and embedded thunderstorms  will be capable of producing higher rain rates and could lead to flash flooding. According to Imperial County Office of Emergency Services, they are working with local cities, emergency response partners and county departments to have resources available if needed.
