Fire fighters have made steady progress on the Border 32 fire burning near Tecate.
The fire broke out Wednesday afternoon in the area of Barrett Lake Road and Highway 94. The blaze grew quickly and Cal Fire responded with fire crews, heavy equipment and air resources. The fire prompted some local evacuations as it jumped Highway 94 and even forced the closure of the Tecate port of entry for a day. Ten structures were destroyed. By Saturday morning crews had reached 65 per cent containment with 4,500 acres burned. Firefighters will be maintaining containment and mopping up hot spots through the weekend.
