(San Diego Sector Border Patrol rescues two)....It happened Tuesday afternoon.
Emergency dispatch in Tijuana notified the San Diego Sector of a 911 call from a lost individual. The caller said she had been left behind by her smuggler, and she was lost in the Otay Mountains. Air support was called in and they were able to locate the woman, but because of circumstances, they were unable to fly her out of the area until the next morning. BORSTAR agents hiked to the area and determined the woman, a Mexican National, was unable to walk. Wednesday morning the agents received another emergency call from the Tijuana Dispatch. This time it was a male who had been abandoned by his smuggler. Agents found the Mexican National, and he complained of chest pain and could not walk out of the wilderness area on his own. Air support was called in. Both the man and the woman were transported to area hospitals for treatment. The San Diego Sector says so far this fiscal year, they have rescued more than 5,000 individuals who were lost, indistress or abandoned by smugglers.
