( A man with ties to an organized theft gang was stopped when he tried to enter the US illegally)....He was caught Sunday afternoon.
At around 12:50 pm Border Patrol agents assigned to the Calexico Station encountered 19 individuals making an illegal entry into the United States. The group was apprehended near the border. It was determined all 19 were without the proper documents to enter the US. Border Patrol agents said the group was comprised of 13 Peruvian nationals, five Columbian nationals and one Chilean national. They were all transported to El Centro for processing. During a records check, it was determined the Chilean, a 60-year-old male, was involved with a South American Theft Group. He also had two active theft warrants in the United States. He had an extensive criminal history and had served jail time. He had also been ordered removed from the US by an immigration judge. The man was arrested on the warrants and turned over to the Imperial County Sheriff's Office. The rest of the individuals were processed for removal back to their countries of origin.
