A load of methamphetamine was discovered in a rail car at the Calexico rail yard.
Early in the morning hours of July 4, 2022, CBP officers at the Calexico downtown port of entry scanned a train crossing into the U.S. from Mexico using the rail x-ray imaging system. Agents noticed anomalies in one of the rail cars and a CBP detector dog alerted to the rail car. An inspection led to the discovery of 30 packages of methamphetamine concealed in the cross beams of the rail car. The meth weighed nearly 175 pounds and has a street value of nearly $315,000.
