The Toronto Blue Jays have signed Sergio Romo to a major-league contract.
Romo, a Brawley native, was released by the Seattle Mariners last week after posting an 8.16 ERA in 14 innings pitched. The Blue Jays are in need of help in a bullpen that has been hit with injuries. Romo, 39, has had success as a late-inning reliever and closer with the San Francisco Giants, Los Angeles Dodgers, Tampa Bay Rays, Oakland A's. Romo s known for his competitiveness and deadly slider.
