(Latest Jobless rate released).....The Unemployment rate for May was released.
The May numbers are the latest available. The numbers were released by the Labor Market Information Division of the Employment Development Department. The Imperial County Unemployment Rate for May came in at 11.4 percent, just below the 11.8 percent released the month before, and below the year ago estimate of 17 %. This compares to the unadjusted unemployment rate of 3.4% for California and 3.4% for the nation during the same period. The numbers indicate there were 7,800 eligible workers unemployed out of a local labor force of 68,500. Even with the drop, Imperial County unemployment is still listed as the highest in the state of California.
