Naason Joaquin Garcia has been sentenced to nearly 17 years in prison.

Garcia, the leader of La Luz del Mundo Church pleaded guilty last week to multiple felony counts of sexual assault involving three separate minors. At a Wednesday hearing, Garcia was sentenced to 16 years and 8 months in prison. He will also be required to register as a sex offender for life. The court had previously sentenced Susana Medina Oaxaca, who pleaded guilty to assault likely to cause great bodily injury to one year of probation in addition to time served in jail and house arrest.
