U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers snared over 106 pounds of fentanyl.

According to the CBP report, On May 23, 2022, a man driving a small pick up truck, attempted to enter the U.S. from Mexico at the Calexico East Port of Entry. The truck was referred to secondary inspection but the driver turned his vehicle southbound and attempted to go back to Mexico. CBP officers were able stop the truck and driver before they got away. An inspection determined that there apparently was something other than fuel in the gas tank and officers are able to remove 175 packages of fentanyl weighing motor than 106 pounds and with a street value of $1.5 million. The driver, a permanent resident, was arrested.
