(Last Friday was the Law Enforcement Memorial Day)....It was a ceremony to honor the fallen Law Enforcement officers in Imperial County.
44 officers were remembered and honored this year. The 14 annual event was held in front of the county courthouse on Main Street in El Centro. All branches of law enforcement agencies, departments and offices were represented during the ceremony. Speakers including officials from the Imperial and El Centro police departments, and the California Highway Patrol. It was attended by a large group of surviving family members and the general public. Remembrance flags were unveiled at the event. 44 flags have been placed on the lawn on the west side of the courthouse. They will remain in place for at least a week to allow the general public to visit them and pay tribute to the fallen officers. The flags are lighted at night.
