(Calipatria City Council has a plan)....The plan is to improve the Cities landscape.

At their meeting this week, the Calipatria City Council approved a plan to plant trees throughout the city. It is part of the local forestry program. The Imperial Valley Urban Forest Program in the City of El Centro partners with Brawley, Calexico, Imperial and Holtville. The Urban Forest Grant specialist with that program worked with the Calipatria Chamber of Commerce. They came up with a $90,000 grant to plant up to 215 trees. The grant has been approved, but still needs to be signed. They also need to discuss on the locations where the trees will be planted. TRhe Council was told it was very important to plant the right trees in the right locations, where they can be easily irrigated.
